I’ve just installed a plugin that allows people to sign up and login to the site using and OpenID.
OpenID is an initiative being supported by a wide range of organisations which is hoping to reduce the need for uers to have multiple usernames and passwords for all their various web accounts.
For more info check out the OpenID site or for a good (and independent) OpenID provider, click here.

The Ubuntu team have release their 9th version of their operating system today.
8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) will be supported until 2010 and includes a new default theme and a raft of other improvements.
Ive been using it for a while as a beta and I really like it.
Keep us the good work!

For those of you who dont know. Mark Shuttleworth is a South-African entrepreneur. He made his money during the dot com boom of the late 90′s, but was one of the very few people who was shrewed enough not to loose it all again when the bubble burst.
Shuttleworth instigated the Ubuntu Linux project and continues to fund it out of his own pocket to this day. Im quite a Ubuntu fan and as an extension of that, a fan of Shuttleworth himself. He has a great ethos in regards to operating systems and software, and stands by keeping Ubuntu free for everyone.
Anyway, he’s recently been interviewed abd I thought it was an interesting read.
You can find it here.

One of my little known guilty pleasures is Jeff Waynes Musical version of HG Wells War of the Worlds. I really dont know why I love it so much, as I normally hate musicals, but this one hooked me somehow.
Anyway, they are doing another live tour next year and I’ve managed to get some tickets!
The reason im so excited about it is because its not just a stuffy orchestra playing the same songs as on the album. The live show features 2 orchestras, a classical orchestra (strings, wind, brass etc) and a modern band featuring drums, electric guitars keyboards and so on. The show also uses the latest technology in the form of huge holograms, massive screens showing projected CG images of the Martians etc; and at one point the lower a 50 foot martian fighting machine down onto the stage!
To get a better idea, head of to the Official Website and check out the pictures and videos from the previous tours.
